2018 reflective self portfolio assessment classified

These links to online learning portfolio summaries, classifies the same batch students depending on their current performance and attachments but hopefully they won't let this classification define them for the rest of their lives and just look back at it as a formative element in the evolution of their life long learning journey) : 👇

1) 2018 entry, detained first attempt (due to significant deficits in year long physical presence) and otherwise may have done well in year long formative assessments :

2) 2018 entry, taking Second attempt after escaping detention as they managed their physical presence attendances well but couldn't manage to clear the practicals because of their practical performance on the day of university final summative assessments (also influenced by formative assessment impressions of their internal examiners) :

SECOND ATTEMPT

3) 2018 entry, detained in other subjects for lack of year long physical presence attendances but cleared Medicine exams in the university final summative assessment :

4) 2018 entry, cleared in first attempt also after escaping detention as they not only managed their physical presence attendances well but also managed to clear the practicals because of their practical performance on the day of university final summative assessments , helped by their prior formative assessments and overall yearlong impression on the internal examiners :

Medical student formative assessment through online learning portfolios and their impact on university summative assessments

Problem statement :

Aim :

The essential goal of this research is to find out the evidentiary impact of original work done by students over time in years, reflected in their formative learning currently archived in their open access online learning portfolios, in being able to impact their university final summative assessments

Objectives :

1) Assess the online learning learning portfolios of a selected sample of students from a particular batch who have logged the content in those portfolios over their years spent from 3rd semester to 9th semester and provide a qualitative and quantitative estimate of their learning over the years aka formative assessment

2) Assess the process of their university summative assessment utilizing archived qualitative and quantitative data collected during the assessments and qualitatively evaluate the impact of their afore mentioned formative learning portfolios on their summative assessments

Methodology :

Initial invite to potential researcher

This is an invitation to you and some other esteemed researchers in our network to participate in a study and to become a coauthor where we are trying to see if one can predict the final university outcomes that have been already decided by a panel of four university examiners.

The researcher and potential coauthor has to choose which students have failed, passed or aced the university finals from a random selection of three groups of student samples containing those who have passed, failed, aced the final university exams by going through their university final exam videos as well as formative assessment online learning portfolios.

The selected coded student hall ticket numbers are :

9007117022

9007117005

9007117023

Their online learning portfolios and formative assessments are available with their hall ticket numbers here: https://generalmedicinedepartment.blogspot.com/2023/01/9th-sem-2018-batch-all-internal-marks.html?m=1

And their final university practical assessment vivas with hall ticket numbers are available here: https://youtube.com/@finalmbbspart-iigmuniversi1452

Will be looking forward to a speedy assessment of the above data from the randomly selected population sample shared above preferably before their university results are out else it may bias the potential predictability of the above shared data. The researcher has to go through the linked student data in the above sample of hall ticket numbers and mention their prediction, pass, fail, aced in their whatsapped or emailed feedback along with their qualitative narrative of their reasons for their decision (what was good, bad average or ugly as gleaned from their data and why).

This is a continuation of our previous medical education project published here: https://medicinedepartment.blogspot.com/2021/06/draft-3a-scholarship-of-integration-and.html?m=0

Results of independent invited researcher evaluation of the summative assessment videos combined with past quantitative and qualitative formative assessment of their online learning portfolios over their entire MBBS course (preliminary 8 as of 20/5/2023):

Sample independently blogged researcher assessment here :

Next steps :

1) Thematic analysis of 8 researcher predictions and comparisons with final university exam results by 4 examiners

2) Thematic analysis of the entire batch online learning portfolios and comparing their impact on the entire summative assessments of competence

3) Thematic analysis of multiple batches (samples from 2017 and 2019 ) and comparing their impact on the entire summative assessments of competence. All batches online learning portfolios are available in our dashboard here which is growing everyday: https://medicinedepartment.blogspot.com/2022/02/?m=0

Core thesis:

Factors influencing the  development of heart failure and other outcomes in patients with suspected chronic CAD

These patients will represent the entire spectrum of CAD that we see here

The two ends of the spectrum that we see every week here are:

Group 1) Mild and early with metabolic and atherosclerotic risk factors such as visceral obesity and hypertension

Think of the recent AMC 2 patients with visceral fat and hypertension but no Diabetes as they have good muscle mass

Current thesis cases:

Group 2) Advanced CAD who present with heart failure and multimorbidity with multiple risk factors for progressive atherosclerosis and micro and macrovascular dysfunction

Think of the current ICU patient with diabetes, sepsis and multimorbidity

Group 3) Atherosclerotic plaque rupture presenting with acute coronary syndrome

Most common in cardiac centers with cath labs as most would like to have primary PTCA

We still these once a month and thrombolyse a few who can't go for primary ptca

Group 4) Miscellaneous suspected microvascular CAD such as in our current ICU bed 1 with Takutsubo's
